There Will Be Blood: Review

This dark and somber film by Paul Thomas Anderson is a masterful exploration of capitalism, greed, and its effect on mankind.  Daniel Day-Lewis gives what could be one of the greatest performances of the decade, if not all-time.  It’s a long, slow-paced film, but man is it worth the watch.

Controlling Information in a Story

YouTuber Lessons from the Screenplay gives another excellent film study, this time on how filmmakers control the information given to an audience.  Using the 2015 science-fiction thriller Ex Machina, he describes how a great film lets the audience take part in the story, thus further engaging them in the film.  If you haven’t subscribed to this guy, please do, because he is fantastic.
