What Makes a Story Relatable

YouTuber kaptainkristian uses Pixar as his medium for showing how and why a story can touch our hearts and also a little about Pixar villains. He also tells us that Pixar movie releases can only be done with 3D animation and simply won’t work in other entertainment styles. I’d agree with this comment and as an example, it would be not only difficult to capture the content of Up in real life but to also carry the weight of the message would be near impossible to achieve.

Great Scenes in Great Films

This week’s great scene from a great film is from Christopher Nolan’s last installment in the Dark Knight trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises.  Here we see the very definition of an intimidating and physically imposing villain.  The tables turn for Daggett when Bane proves to him that he was never truly in control.  Say what you will about Bane’s voice, but I really love how the sound is mixed here.  Between Tom Hardy’s menacing performance and Hans Zimmer’s rising theme in the background, this scene is one of the best of the film.
